Laminitis in the Horse
What is Laminitis?
Laminitis is inflammation of the laminae, which is the tissue that secures the coffin bone or distal phalanx to the inside of the hoof tissue. Laminitis is often interchangeable with the laymen’s term, “FOUNDER”.
What is Insulin Resistance?
Insulin resistance is a form of “pre” diabetes and is unfortunately very common in the horse as well as in humans. Insulin resistance or IR is a physiologic condition in which the cells in the body have a decreased response to insulin.
